ENOGEN® is a transgenic product designed to deliver functionally superior thermo stable a-amylase expressed in corn feedstock bringing a range of benefits to the dry grind ethanol industry including: improved throughput and yield potential, energy and chemical savings, ease of use, and reduction of environmental footprint.  Enogen® is absolutely safe for animal feed. Enogen® grain has been approved for use as animal feed by more than 15 countries, including the U.S, Canada, Mexico, Japan, China, and Australia. There have been several studies performed using Enogen® grain including feeding studies with rats and broilers (chickens) for regulatory submissions and university studies with cattle (Effect of feeding corn modified to contain a unique amylase on performance and carcass characteristics of feedlot steers). In addition, grain containing Enogen® and grain without Enogen® were analyzed for their composition, including vitamins, minerals, amino acids, fatty acids and carbohydrates. In no case was there any difference found between the Enogen® grain and the non-Enogen® grain.  In addition to the approvals for animal feed, the FDA and regulatory agencies around the world have reached the conclusion it is safe for food use as well.  The FDA concluded their consultation with the following statement in the FDA memo:  Syngenta states that, based on its safety assessment, corn event 3272 is as safe as other corn lines, and as such may be used as food, feed or in the production of food products or ingredients. However, Syngenta states that grain from corn event 3272 is primarily targeted for the dry grind fuel ethanol production industry in the United States.
