Michael (Mike) Gruber has near 20 years of experience in policymaking, advocacy and campaigns. Mr. Gruber joined GMA in 2012 after working as senior staff member on the House Committee on Energy and Commerce. In that role, he served as the primary budget and appropriations policy advisor to the full committee and as liaison to the Congressional Budget Office and House Budget Committee. Prior to his work on the Energy and Commerce Committee, Mr. Gruber was chief of staff to Rep. Tom Latham (R-IA). He later served an appropriations associate for Congressman Latham on the House Appropriations Committee. Mr. Gruber got his start in government as a legislative assistant for former Rep. George R. Nethercutt, Jr. (R-WA), later going on to serve as his district director. Mr. Gruber’s experience is supplemented by his earlier work in corporate public relations and federal affairs.

A: Food manufacturers are working to meet a growing demand by consumers interested in additional information about food products and the process through which plant-based ingredients are grown. This includes providing information about whether or not food ingredients were derived from genetically engineered plants. Food manufacturers certify and label some products as non-GMO to provide product options for consumers that wish to avoid genetically engineered food.
