Like many fruits and vegetables, apples turn brown when they’re bitten, sliced or bruised when damaged flesh is exposed to oxygen. It’s because of an enzyme called polyphenol oxidase (PPO), but one company, Arctic® found a precise way to reduce the amount of PPO in apples. And they’ve used this technique to improve varieties that you already know and love.

There is only one company that makes GMO apples, Arctic®. They come in several varieties, Arctic® Golden, Arctic® Fuji, and Arctic® Granny.  Look for Arctic® apples packaged as pre-sliced or the dried apple AppBits option in your grocery store or online.
