Karen Batra joined the Biotechnology Innovation Organization (BIO), the world's largest biotech industry association, in 2008. As Director of Food & Agriculture Communications, she oversees development and execution of the communications and media programs in support of BIO’s food & ag policy objectives. Prior to working with BIO, Karen was Director of Public Affairs for the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association (NCBA) from 2002 until 2008, where she handled messaging around food safety, ag policy, trade, environmental and natural resources issues. Karen has BFA and MEd degrees, both from East Carolina University; She lives in Washington, D.C.
