Expert Bio

John was raised as a city boy in Cincinnati Ohio, and went through the Cincinnati public schools. At the end of college at Miami University (Ohio), he discovered his interest in laboratory research with plants and went on to receive his PhD at Texas A&M University, working on cotton and carrot. After completing a 2½ year position in the private sector at Syngenta, he joined the faculty at The Ohio State University, where he works on gene introduction and gene expression in a variety of plants. John enjoys lifting, running, bike riding and eating good food and he still is an avid gardener, which is what got him started in the plant sciences in the first place.
