It’s interesting that you ask this question, because there is no reason why we shouldn’t tell people about GMOs. In fact, GMO Answers was created to do a better job at sharing evidence-based information about GMOs and biotechnology in agriculture. The biotech industry stands 100 percent behind the health and safety of the GM crops on the market today, but we acknowledge that we haven’t done the best job communicating about them — what they are, how they are made and what the safety data says.

One of the benefits of GMO Answers is that people can ask questions about GMOs, and a community of experts in a variety of fields — including plant science, toxicology, animal science, economics, policy, production agriculture and other areas — provide their expertise and perspectives. We recognize that plant biotechnology is one of many tools farmers can utilize to produce more food with fewer inputs. We invite healthy skepticism to the GMO discussion. For example, you might be interested in this response from Rob Wager, which discusses some of the pros and cons of GM crops. We welcome your tough questions on GMO Answers and encourage everyone to join in the conversation about how food is grown. The agriculture industry has a great story to tell, and GM crops are part of that story.
