Sadly, AquaBounty is still waiting. Although the FDA publicly disclosed the results of their review in September 2010, concluding the product was safe and effective, the agency has continued to delay the approval. The company has not been asked for any additional data, and has not been told the application will be denied. The company remains hopeful the FDA will act on the science and the merit of the application and ultimately allow the approval to issue. AquaBounty has unfortunately become the "poster child" for the politicization of the regulatory process, a role which we would very much like to relinquish.
