Clinton Pilcher, Ph.D.

Director, Scientific Affairs – Insect Resistance Management, DuPont Pioneer

Expert Bio

Like many kids, I was fascinated with bugs. My dad was an entomologist at Colorado State University doing research to help farmers better manage their crops for insect pests. When I was “knee high to a grasshopper,” I was helping him check corn fields for European corn borer and corn rootworm damage. That curiosity led to a career, as I am also now an entomologist. At DuPont Pioneer, I focus on ensuring that crops containing insect-controlling proteins are sustainable and deployed in a manner that maintain their effectiveness long into the future.

I earned a bachelor’s degree at Colorado State University and a masters and Ph.D. at Iowa State University in entomology and crop production and physiology. My wife (another entomologist) and I love living in the Midwest working in an ag-based community in the great state of Iowa. I enjoy working for DuPont Pioneer because my colleagues are dedicated to improving global agriculture to not only ensure our customers are successful, but also to contribute to a greater cause of feeding the world. In my spare time, I enjoy hunting and fishing in the great outdoors.
