Luther Burbank is a renowned American plant breeder. Ever heard of the Idaho potato? You can thank Mr. Burbank for that common staple in American produce. According to Britannica, “Burbank’s breeding methods effected multiple crosses of foreign and native strains and produced seedlings that were grafted onto fully developed plants for a relatively quick appraisal of hybrid characteristics.”
