Lynn Martz is a farmer in Maple Park, Illinois, and she is in a family partnership that includes her husband, parents, sons, and brother. They grow 6350 acres of row crops such as corn, soybeans, and wheat, as well as raising beef cattle. She has been active in the Illinois farm Families Program bringing Chicago Mom’s out to tour their farm to help answer questions about where their food comes from and even discussing technology. Martz appears in many panels and discussions like Food Dialogues Transparency Panel and appeared on “Anderson Live,” a television program starring Anderson Cooper.

There is strong interest in heirloom seeds today, and many stores, catalogs and websites sell them. Far from being eliminated, the heirloom-seed world is growing, especially among home gardeners and commercial farmers who sell to specialty stores and farmers’ markets. [...]
