Former Director, Emerging Markets, Regulatory Policy & Scientific Affairs, Monsanto Company
Expert Bio
I was born in Delhi, India and developed a passion for agriculture early as my grandmother was a farmer in the state of Punjab, which is often referred to as the bread basket of India. As I was growing up, I watched the power of innovative Ag technologies, especially for wheat which turned India from a major importer to becoming self-sufficient; this change has often been referred to the first green revolution. I received my Ph.D. degree in Pharmacology/Toxicology from the University of Mississippi in 1980 and an MBA from Washington University in St. Louis in 1997. I joined Monsanto Company in 1980 as a Senior Toxicologist and have had a very fulfilling career for the last 33 years. Over the years, I have worked closely with regulators for Agricultural Biotechnology and Chemical products in Asia, Europe and the US on the subject of safety of our products. I have also been very fortunate to participate in education programs for students by serving as an adjunct professor with various Universities.
