Dr. Taiwo Koyejo is the Director, Regulatory Affairs for Plant Biotechnology at CropLife International where she supports the plant biotech regulatory project teams in the development of global policies and positions to support regulatory capacity building in priority countries. 

Prior to joining CropLife International, Dr. Koyejo was a Regulatory Affairs Manager for biotech crops at Monsanto Company in St. Louis, MO where she successfully led the preparation and submissions of regulatory petitions of biotech trait products to U.S. regulatory agencies.  She also supported global submissions of petitions to key import and export countries.

Dr. Koyejo received her Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences at the Department of Genetics and Developmental Biology, University of Connecticut Health Center, Farmington CT in 2006.  As a graduate student at the University of Connecticut, Dr. Koyejo did her thesis work on Post-transcriptional modification of Drosophila melanogaster Synaptotagmin I.  She was also a post-doctoral Research Associate at Brown University, Providence RI where she continued her work on RNA editing of Synaptotagmin I in Drosophila, studying the behavioral impact of editing in flies.

A: In order for import and cultivation of biotech crops to occur, regions involved would need to have biotech regulatory policies in place to enable GM crop approvals (for import and cultivation) in such regions.     In 2014, 28 countries grew biotech crops (Argentina, Australia, Bolivia, Brazil, Burkina Faso, Canada, Chile, China, Columbia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Czech Republic, Honduras, India, Mexico, Myanmar, Paraguay, Pakistan, Philippines, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, South Africa, Spain, Sudan, U.S., Uruguay, and Bangladesh)[1].   In addition, over 60 countries i [...]
