Question

I just bought a Rice Dream product which is certified organic and has nongmo project stamp on it. On the ingredients it contains canola oil. I read that 90 of canola oil is GM. So are these stamps trust worthy?

You mention two labels in your question: the USDA Certified Organic label and the Non-GMO Project Verified label. The organic label is certified through the U.S. Department of Agriculture. GM seeds are not allowed to be used under this certification program. You can learn more USDA organic label and GMOs here on their blog. The Non-GMO Project Verified seal is a separate program, which you can learn more about here.

 

You also mention canola oil in your question. You can learn more about canola oil from Soyatech.com here. They explain that "All protein is removed from canola oil during processing, so canola oil contains no GM material and is identical to canola oil from a non-GM canola plant."
