Question
If there truly are hundreds of independent studies done to prove that GMOs are safe (I am not doubting that there are), it might be a smart idea to publish all the information on each of the studies on an additional bracket of this website. All of the independent studies that I have read and analyzed seem to be proving the dangers of GMOs instead of proving their safety. If the world was able to see evidence behind GMOs being safe, people would no longer have a reason to protest against biotech. My question is: why when I find websites promoting GMOs are they incredibly general? They say GMOs are safe and healthy, but they provide no evidence behind the claim. Surely as scientific people yourselves, you understand my concern and my need to see the proof for myself.

We agree that it would be helpful to compile all of the safety studies in one location. This has unfortunately not yet been done, however there are several online resources that compile different lists of studies that are quite helpful.
- GMO Answers: First, take a look at this response to a similar question. It provides a list of 15 publications from 2012-2013 on food safety studies conducted by independent, third-party researchers.
- Biology Fortified, Inc.'s GENERA (GENetic Engineering Risk Atlas): We also recommend searching this extensive list of peer-reviewed research on GM crops for studies on different crops, traits, and funding sources. Biology Fortified, Inc. (BFI) is an independent non-profit organization with a mission to strengthen the public discussion of issues in biology, with particular emphasis on genetics and genetic engineering in agriculture.
- A decade of EU-funded GMO research: These report summarizes over 50 studies were conducted in Europe from 2001-2010, funded by the European Commission (at a cost of >200 million euros) and performed by more than 400 independent research groups.
- An overview of the last 10 years of genetically engineered crop safety research: a review article performed by Nicolia et al in which a team of Italian scientists cataloged and analyzed 1783 studies about the safety and environmental impacts of GMO foods
- CLI Database of the Safety and Benefits of Biotechnology: CropLife International maintains this database of published papers and reviews that demonstrate the benefits and safety of agricultural biotechnology products.
