    GMO ingredients are listed, but they are not identified as GMOs. For instance if you read an ingredient label and see "sugar" listed, its possible (and likely) that the sugar came from GM sugar beets. Or if the label says "soybean oil" that oil may have (and probably did) come from GM soybeans.

    I would suggest you change your question to say "Why are GMO ingredients not identified on the ingredients label?" but there are already over a dozen questions about labeling GMOs.
