    Thank you Laura. I have come across literature that propose the concept that genes of DNA of ge food items we consume could in some manner be taken up by cells or gut flora and begin expressing that function. Even if GE had never existed, we eat a lot of things from plants and other food sources that contain genes in their DNA that I would not want my body's cells or gut flora to start producing. I just think that if ingesting foods with dna of genes that can do nasty things, for example consuming crops that might be infested with organisms whose dna includes genes that instruct the creation of mycotoxins, then we would have all been dead long ago.
