Question

What are your reasons for avoiding the concerns and questions of consumers for so long? Also given your silence on the subject of health concerns and GMOs in the past how can we as consumers trust that what you're telling us is true now?

When we launched GMO Answers, we acknowledged that we had not done a good job communicating about consumers’ concerns related to GMOs. While we have not intentionally hid information about GMOs and have addressed health and safety issues over the years, we did so often relying on technical jargon, talking points and scientific studies, and did not take into consideration the very real personal concerns and emotions that were also present. Essentially, we talked past you and failed to listen and engage properly. We are working to change this now, and hope that GMO Answers and similar initiatives represent a good start to improving our relationship.

I invite you to look through the hundreds of answers we have on our website, and check out our new page listing Frequently Cited Studies where you can find information from all perspectives. Additionally, you can review hundreds of independent studies available at Biofortified.org, and visit and engage with other resources like SkeptiforumBest Food Facts, and FoodInsight.org, just to list a few. Our goal is to listen to you and help provide the information you need to do your own research and make up your own mind about GMOs.
