Question

I recently read about a study that was done in Russia using Monsanto funduing that was done around the same time as the Pusztai study. Both studies had to do with GM potatoes and Monsanto's was supposedly about the NewLeaf variety. Supposedly, that study was not released for 8 years and then only because the courts were involved. Can you explain this without referring to the "new" Monsanto company?

The Russian study for NewLeaf potatoes and the Pusztai study on the snowdrop lectin-producing potatoes are unrelated. Monsanto provided NewLeaf potatoes to the Russian government, which conducted feeding studies as part of its regulatory review. Following the feeding and other regulatory studies, Russia approved NewLeaf potatoes in 2002.
