How long has Monsanto been operational in Ghana? Did Monsanto begin trials of GM crops in Ghana before or after the Ghanaian government established and launched the full set of state institutions deemed necessary under the Biosafety Bill 2011 to safely regulate trials of GM crops?

Monsanto first planted field trials in Ghana in 2013, well after the publication of the biosafety law and of the implementation of regulations that govern trials. All institutional aspects were in place. This is in line with our policy. Implementing regulations for general release are awaiting finalization.
